The Apple of Our Eye We all need to be tamed. Our rough edges are honed by those who understand our temper – folks who are put in our life to round us into complete people. Eve and Enkidu are perfect examples of complementary personas. Both people serve to quench the personalities to which they provide counterpoint, Enkidu in showing Gilgamesh that he is not invincible and Eve in showing Adam that his companion in life will stick with him through thick and thin. It is by the actions and behaviors of these characters that we learn that no one is a complete person from the time of birth; we are all made whole through our interactions with those who share our own stories. Eve and Enkidu represent a similar face – both use flawed†¦show more content†¦They were built up by their â€Å"teachers† like someone climbing a one-legged ladder; their viewpoint kept changing for the better until their world came crashing down. Both Eve and Enkidu are consciously disobedient towards their maker’s desires. Eve’s decision to eat of the Tree of Knowledge is a conscious decision to see what is beyond the boundaries of ignorance for her gains in knowledge and understanding. Enkidu understands the folly of Gilgamesh’s errands to slaughter both Humbaba and the Bull of Heaven. In Tablet II, lines 138-146, Enkidu entreaties with Gilgamesh to avoid Humbaba citing that â€Å"Humbaba’s cry is the roar of a deluge, His maw is fire, his breath is death. Why would you want to do this? The haunt of Humbaba is a hopeless quest.† Both Gilgamesh and Enkidu realize that Humbaba is a guardian of the gods, yet he makes a conscious decision to attempt these feats for his own gain of fame and glory. Just like Eve’s decision to eat of the Tree of Knowledge, Enkidu falls to peer pressure. Enkidu relies on his own serpent, a boor of a man who until recently thought it was a good idea to invade the bower of his subjects. Enkidu falls flat on his face because he steps outside of the comfort zone that Shamhat had recently prepared. This is a similarity between Eve and Enkidu; both ultimately achieve their ends while neither is wholly prepared for the consequences of their actions. Police Racial Profiling Essay CRJ I am proposing to write about racial profiling by police. Racial profiling refers to the practice of police targeting minorities with out probable cause. For example police search two African Americans in front of a store talking and not the two caucasian people next to them. One other example would be a police officer writing more traffic tickets to one race more then the rest. Discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, nationality or on any other particular identity undermines the basic human rights and freedoms to which every person is entitled. According to some theories the sociological reason for this problem is that law enforcement officials focus on what people look like, what religion they follow, or what they wear. Racial Profiling Is Discrimination, and It Taints the Entire Criminal Justice System. Racial profiling rests on the erroneous assumption that any particular individual of one race or ethnicity is more likely to engage in misconduct than any particular individual of other races or ethnicities. Hypotheses: The opportunities for polices to racial profile is becoming a greater problem in the untied states every day. We have laws that are meant to protect the minorities from racial profiling. What I would like to see happen is the police officers that are falling into the catergory of racial profileing be repimanded, and for local government to give the American people their right to be protected from racial porfiling. .
